Strathmore is home to a wide variety of businesses. Understanding the types of businesses and where they are located may help you make better business and investment decisions. In order to manage growth, the municipality issues business licences to confirm and ensure lawful operation in the municipality. If required, a business licence helps to regulate taxes, protect consumers and ensure public safety. This tool will help you answer three important questions.

Do I need a business licence to conduct my business?

No person shall carry on or operate any business within or partly within the Town without holding a valid business license issued pursuant to the provisions of the Business License Bylaw. Before applying for a Business License, please ensure you've fulfilled the Development Permit and Building Permit requirements. Permit requirements may vary depending on the project.

A business can be run from a Commercial, Industrial, or Home location. Prior to applying for a Business Licence please ensure you've been approved for the following permits and inspections:

  • Home Office/Home Occupation
  • Commercial
  • Industrial

Other Business Licenses

  • Out of Town 
  • Food Truck/Vendor
  • Temporary
